Christopher Moss Named a 2026 Business Leader of the Year

Volt Credit Union is proud to celebrate President & CEO Christopher Moss, who was recognized as one of the Springfield Business Journal’s 2026 Business Leaders of the Year.

This honor recognizes leaders making a meaningful difference within their organizations, industries and communities. As Chris approaches three years at the helm of Volt, the recognition reflects his commitment to innovation, responsible growth and creating an environment where employees can do their best work.

Leading Innovation with Purpose

Since joining Volt in 2023, Chris has guided transformation while keeping our mission and over 7,000 members central.

Under his leadership, Volt has introduced Interactive Teller Machines, enhanced its online banking platform and launched a completely redesigned, mobile-friendly website. These investments have made it easier and more convenient for members to manage their money while still receiving the personal service they expect from Volt.

For Chris, however, innovation is about more than adopting new technology. It also requires responsible growth, strong operations and commitment to compliance, risk management and long-term sustainability.

That balance allows Volt to move forward with confidence while remaining a trusted financial advocate for our members.

Creating a Culture Where People Can Grow

Chris’s leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, transparency, accountability and a team-first mentality.

He believes leadership is not about one person standing at the front of an organization. It is about listening, removing obstacles, encouraging new ideas and giving people opportunities to grow.

That approach can be seen throughout Volt as employees develop professionally, take greater ownership and work together to provide exceptional member service. It also closely reflects our culture codes of Humanness, Resourcefulness, Learning, Togetherness and Serving.

As Chris shared with the Springfield Business Journal, “When people feel supported, challenged and connected to a clear purpose, they are empowered to do extraordinary things.”

He finds it especially rewarding to build a culture where employees live Volt’s mission and share leadership.

Serving Beyond the Credit Union

Chris’s commitment to service extends well beyond Volt.

He serves as treasurer on the Friends of the Zoo Board of Directors for Dickerson Park Zoo and as assistant treasurer on The Victim Center’s Board of Directors. Through these roles, he supports organizations that strengthen our community and improve the quality of life for people throughout the Springfield area.

Chris also advocates for the credit union movement at the state and national levels. He serves on the Advocacy Policy Committee and Small Credit Union Advocacy Committee for America’s Credit Unions, as well as the Governmental Affairs and International Relationship committees for Cornerstone League.

His involvement ensures credit unions and the members and communities they serve remain represented in important industry conversations.

A Recognition We Share

Although this award recognizes Chris individually, his leadership has always emphasized the importance of working together.

This honor reflects the dedication of Volt’s employees, board, community partners and members who believe in our mission. Every new idea, member interaction, community partnership and act of service helps move Volt forward.

We proudly celebrated Chris alongside fellow honorees at the Springfield Business Journal’s Business Leaders of the Year ceremony.

Chris, thank you for purposeful leadership, investing in our people, and inspiring Volt to better serve our community.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for helping Volt continue Powering Your Potential.
