Who can join Volt Credit Union?
Becoming a Volt member is easy! If you live, work, or have ties to our community, you’re already on your way to joining.

If you live or work in Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, Stone, Taney, or Webster County in Missouri, or have a family member who does, you’re eligible to join Volt Credit Union.

Even if life takes you to a new city or changes your situation, your membership sticks with you! As long as your account stays open and active, you’ll always be part of the Volt community.

Your support has helped provide not only basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter but also a sense of hope for individuals and families who need it most. Volt Credit Union made history by launching the very first student-run "bank" inside a Springfield school. Here, students are learning essential financial literacy skills that will carry them into their futures with confidence. Congratulations to Volt Credit Union for being awarded the 2025 Civic Contributor Award.
Philanthropy and volunteerism are the lifeblood of our region. The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Ozarks Region Chapter recognized Volt Credit Union in their role in advancing philanthropy around the Ozarks. Our Story
Volt Credit Union’s journey began in 1935 as Springfield MFA Employees Credit Union, with just 48 members and $206.50 in assets. Over the decades, we evolved alongside our community:
- 1972: We became Mid America Credit Union, expanding our reach to serve select employee groups.
- 1999: We rebranded to Community Financial Credit Union, welcoming members from a nine-county area around Springfield.
- 2018: Our transformation into Volt Credit Union reflected our energy, innovation, and member-focused mission.
Today, we remain a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative dedicated to empowering every member with financial solutions that make life simpler and brighter.
