Volt Credit Union Shines Bright with the North Springfield Betterment Association

At Volt Credit Union, community isn’t just part of what we do, it’s who we are. That’s why we’re beyond proud to be involved with the North Springfield Betterment Association (NSBA), an incredible organization that’s been lighting up our corner of Springfield with purpose, pride, and progress.

And this year? We’re honored to receive the 2025 Civic Contributor Award from NSBA!

This recognition celebrates our continued support, vision, and leadership within the North Springfield community and the Volt Credit Union Hillcrest High School Branch, and we couldn’t be more thankful. From empowering Hillcrest High School students to supporting local educators and neighbors, Volt is all about charging up the community we call home.

What Makes NSBA So Special?

The North Springfield Betterment Association is all about making north Springfield a better place to work, live, and thrive. Their mission says it best:

“Our purpose is to promote and encourage worthwhile and honorable endeavors which make North Springfield a better place to work and live.”

Through projects that combine education, beautification, and good old-fashioned neighborly pride, NSBA helps create a stronger, more connected community—one that reflects the heart of Southwest Missouri.

How You Can Get Involved

There are so many ways to plug into the energy of NSBA:

  • Monthly Programs:
Join in for lunch, networking, and learning every month! From civic topics to business trends (and a few fun games thrown in), these noon-hour meetups are always worth it.

  • R.O.A.D. Project (Removing Obstacles to Academic Development):
For over 20 years, NSBA has helped Springfield Public Schools students overcome barriers to attendance—sometimes even gifting bikes to students without reliable transportation. Because every day in class is a day closer to success.

  • Community Betterment Awards:
Recognizing the businesses, residents, and nonprofits that make North Springfield shine brighter, literally and figuratively.

  • Annual Civic Contributor Award:
A huge thank-you to NSBA for honoring Volt with this award! It celebrates individuals and organizations who’ve made a lasting impact on the northside—and we’re thrilled to be in such inspiring company.

  • Glenstone Islands Project:
Ever noticed those bright, beautiful medians at Glenstone & Kearney? That’s NSBA’s handiwork! Volunteers help maintain and beautify those areas season after season. (And yes, it’s totally okay to honk when you see them, we do!)

  • North Springfield Betterment Foundation:
Supporting education and scholarship programs across the community through a 501(c)(3) foundation that keeps the mission growing strong.
