Volt Credit Union Gives Back: Powering Our Community, One Member at a Time
At Volt Credit Union, impact isn’t a buzzword, it’s our business model. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, everything we do is guided by one simple philosophy: People Helping People. Our 2025 Volt Credit Union Community Impact Report shows just how powerful that commitment is when it’s put into action across our communities.
Real Financial Impact for Real People
According to a 2025 DataTrack study, Volt Credit Union delivered more than $1.12 million in direct financial benefits to 6,885 members. For households actively using Volt services, that value increased to an average of $2,338, while each member household saw an average benefit of $343. That’s real money staying where it matters most—in our members’ pockets. 2025 Impact Flyer
Since 1935, Volt has believed everyone deserves an advocate, especially during uncertain times. These results prove that when members bank with Volt, they’re not just managing money—they’re maximizing it.
Strengthening Communities Across Southwest Missouri
Volt proudly serves 13 counties in Southwest Missouri and holds a low-income designation, allowing us to expand access to affordable financial services for individuals and families who need them most. Through the Volt Foundation, we support more than 100 local organizations with financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteer support.
Our team has logged over 575 volunteer hours, contributing to more than 1,500 hours of community service since the program began because showing up matters.
Investing in Financial Education and the Next Generation
We also invest directly in the future by awarding three $1,000 scholarships each year to help students pursue their dreams. For members of all ages, Volt offers free online budgeting tools through Insights, making it easier to track spending, set goals, and build healthy financial habits.
Guidance When It Matters Most
At Volt, we meet members where they are. With 22% of our staff certified as Credit Union Financial Counselors (CCUFC), members receive trusted guidance tailored to their unique financial goals.
We also launched Credit Climber, a program designed to help applicants who may not initially qualify for credit. Through education, training, and one-on-one coaching, we guide members toward successful approval and long-term financial confidence.
Swipe With Purpose
Community support doesn’t stop at the branch. Volt’s co-branded debit cards, created in partnership with organizations like Dickerson Park Zoo, Hillcrest High School, and Springfield Little Theatre, allow members to “Swipe with Purpose.” Every purchase helps support causes that make our community stronger.
A Legacy of Service and a Future of Possibility
In 2025, Volt proudly celebrated 90 years of service, marking nine decades of empowering members and strengthening communities. Along the way, we’ve been honored with awards recognizing our commitment to social responsibility and philanthropy, including the 2025 Civic Contributor Award from the North Springfield Betterment Association.
But the real reward is the impact we make every day, helping members build brighter financial futures and supporting the places we all call home.
That’s the power of a credit union built for people.
That’s Volt Credit Union. Powering Your Potential™.
